Valles Calchaquíes

Few views of the Valles Calchaquíes, the first stretch of rural Argentina we encountered after leaving Salta. At the end of the Cuesta del Obispo, a new (or old) world awaited us along the unpaved turns of Ruta National 40. It's a place where the colonial past is still painfully near, and modernity slowly makes way. An ever-changing desert where the little water available irrigates endless vineyards of Torrontes and Malbec.
